Jsabini May 23 I’ve finally had it with Micromat’s upgrade BS. I’ve had TTP for many years, and I am running v13 currently. Now they want Big deal! I have an Intel Mac, and there seems to be nothing else that’s new. Plus the last upgrade was “only” Let’s tack on an extra 20 to the price, and call it a deal! No thanks, I’m done. May 4 Hurry, hurry, it’s that day for a quasi-update or subscription fee or blame Apple to nickel and dime long time users!

In this case, Apple Silicon! TechTool Pro Pity, this creates a small shadow of a once larger application…. After spending days trying to get eDrive to work on my iMac, I’ve come to the conclusion that TechTool Pro 12 is simply not the program it used to be. I see no reason to move on to TTP Version 13 freezes up during the Volume Structures program.

Too bad. I started out with the “Business Purchase” for my four computers gave the extras to my nephews , and was Shocked to see how little the upgrade is from version 12 to 13!!! Plus, the is no compatibility for Big Sur for the ver. That is just really bad business. There is a fine line between being entrepreneurial, and just being greedy. I’ve been loyal to these guys for several versions waiting for some kind of a “format, or partition” tool , but now that I see this underhanded way to get people to upgrade to ver.

I’ve told my nephews NOT to buy the new version, nor support companies that do this. Companies should be loyal to their base. This is one of only 3 reviews I’ve done in my life. I am a longtime user, now fed up.

The “updates” are expensive, and don’t work. For example, without an edrive the application is nearly useless, and it always hangs when I try to create an edrive Big Sur OS, Big Sur-“compatible” drive. I am tired of this crap. Buyer beware! Suricate15 Feb 4 All what concerns hardware on your machine is well analysed with this application. But on pure software side ie. With CCC M. Bombich it was done in 29 minutes and with ChronoSync Econ Technologies in 32 minutes.

Successful, verified and all fine. The upgrade price is also too high, even with a Black Friday discount, this application doesn’t evolve so much from one version to the next one.

I agree with member eN0ch 11 January I have been annoyed by the upgrade pricing policy for some time. In fact, I purchased TechTool Pro 11 and it never, ever worked.

Not once. It crashed every time I tried to use it on my MacBook Air. I told MicroMat support more than once about the problem and wanted a full refund. That never happened. In fact, No one helped me.

I complained but still no refund. Now they want me to pay again. No free upgrades for MicroMat! Geography Is Destiny Jan 30 Can v. When they add that functionality in, I will come back to this venerable app, but it’s useless until then.

Drtyrell Jan 29 Insane price point. I wandered back to the fold because the upgrade price was decent. I had definitely become a Hater! TTP 13 Protogo boots with no issues. I also have a Mac mini that had issues and now that Protogo will boot, I was able to resolve the problem. Dannymontani Dec 16 Well, this isn’t going well.

Just installed v 13 over 12 on my MacBook Air. Erased my edrive to install the v13 and it says I don’t have enough disk space. So I used TM to reinstall v 12, removed Now v12 is giving me the same spiel. Not good. Not good at all. Pro to go won’t show up in sys prefs to restart. You guys are BAD man. PaulDWeiss Dec 1 I have used this app since v. For instance, the eDrive fails to function as a startup disk, but the program won’t let me delete it and recreate it.

Background protection scanning will work for weeks, then will stop working, and will never work again. I vowed that I would stop updating this thing half way through v. I lived without the later v. Finally, my old 9. I was amazed to find that stuff which had been broken in 9. I have been a customer for seven major releases, but I think that really what I am is a sucker. Nothing ever gets fixed. StrictlyBagel Oct 10 Once great app destroyed by minor updates and greedy pricing.

TurdFerguson82 Oct 7 This could easily be a 5-star app if it wasn’t for Micromat’s egregious update policy. It is obscene how shameless Micromat is! Their strategy is once they have a customer spend that much money on an app, their hook is sunk. What a shame because I actually do like the app Swo Sep 26 I think TechTool Pro is a great app and while the updating process can be costly, it’s not always necessary. For instance, if you happen to be using TTP 12 and have a computer with a hard drive you don’t necessarily need to update to TTP 13 because it adds a lot of changes aimed at the AFS file system and flash memory drives, which you might not have.

Each upgrade tends to bring changes that are beneficial, but that’s not the same thing as necessary for whatever system you happen to be running. You control the update process, not the other way around if you don’t it, don’t purchase it. Alexnorwood Sep 4
