Much like anything Samsung this product is basically worthless trash that wont work It wont give P, it wont update firmware or allow to work I bought 3 used Blu-Ray players at the same time I don’t even think it was able to read the disc, since it was legally bought having copy protection The Blu-Ray or the TV if not both will refuse to play it claiming its to stop pirates Yet they create conditions where only pirating something will allow it to be viewed?
I doubt this could even stream in P so would have to fine some pirate site to stream on a computer that actually seems to display pictures and sound? I waited over 10 years to finally get a Blu-Ray player I’m totally crushed, given up on life or obtaining any more Blu-Rays I can only watch stuff pirated since all these conflicting copy protection has made it nearly impossible for anybody sane to enjoy watching anything. Please if see anything Samsung, just walk away, if I can stop 1 person from ending their life like me its worth it Just don’t do it, Samsung is trash, it wont work, it will cause conflicts, quality is very low, picture is horrible, sound shotty.
I really wish Samsung didn’t decline so quickly, now I realize I was the fool for every using or buying anything from their criminal company. As I buy something to display P only to have it prevent me from doing it while not breaking any laws trying to watch stuff I paid for I purchased this unit despite the the bad reviews, hoping they were mostly ignorant consumers and whining people. I am still a big Samsung fan. After reading reviews from all brands, I believe the Smart TV service this players provide is very faulty, not only pertaining to Samsung.
I decided to wait a couple of months before writing this review. Some of the good reviews came from buyers who had the player only a few days. What I have: Samsung 55 inch screen. Player is wired to my router. The problems: – I had to do the registration for Netflix several times. This never happens with my Wii or my computers. It said it needed to update and the installing screen stayed there frozen. Last failed attempt, I wait 10 hours over night for the “installing” to finish, but nothing.
So I turned it off and went to the Samsung website to post a question that never even appeared, after 2 days. I cant remember where in the internet I read that someone with a similar problem had to reset the unit by pressing and holding down the stop button. Yep, that worked, but I needed to re-register Netflix and re-install and re-register other apps I had. A real pain in the b, specially when you are using your remote control to enter e-mails and passwords.
I turn the player on and the TV turns on, or switches to the player. I am using a 4gb thumb drive and an old 1TB hard drive in an external hard drive case with USB connection for my video files. If the Smart service improves I think it will , discs will eventually dissapear. I am receiving message “you do not have enough memory to load application” when trying to use VUDU I feel like throwing the remote at it One person found this helpful.
I like Samsung, and normally love their products. If all you want is a Bluray player and don’t care about the other features, it’s probably fine. I bought this unit for it’s internet ready features and found them sorely lacking. So much so I returned the unit. It’s very time consuming to add multiple apps. If this is your reason for getting this player, DON’T! AllShare doesn’t allow you to create libraries, so each folder is basically it’s own library.
This is OK if all your media is one location, but that’s often not the case for larger collections. I could go on, but I’ll stop there.
