In the video configuration it doesn’t recognize two distinct external monitors, just one external monitor and the laptop’s integrated display. As a result I am unable to extend the desktop across the two externals. Ok, maybe I’m pushing my luck with the VGA thing but, man, I really prefer the aspect ratios for doing office work. I’m supposing that since others haven’t found resolution no pun intended to their issues then the lowly fellow with the analog displays hasn’t got a chance.
But if someone has some suggestion then by all means speak up! Ok, talking to myself here but I think I got to the bottom of it. Reporting back for the benefit of future travelers. ThinkPads with DisplayPort 1. Digging deeper here are the “limitations” So basically since I have the E I can’t run dual screens off the OneLink Pro dock unless they are cloned, no spanned. Its too bad this info is somewhat burried. I mean it’s right out there but you have to look close.
I don’t believe that it is passing information enough info back to the dock that there is a screen attached. So in essence I think it is simply doing ‘dumb’ cloning out the displayport when it has no other info to go on. I don’t have any other displayport stuff so I will have to dig something up and will try to report back. If I have the two ‘digital’ monitors interfaced to the OneLink Pro dock then it will display the same image on both but only acnowledge the existence of the one hooked to the DVI port.
It even names it by brand and model. If I unhook the DVI monitor then it will display on the DisplayPort monitor through the displayport to DVI adapter and even properly recognizes the name and brand of that monitor. So basically I know the OneLink Pro dock can communicate to both monitors and identify them properly – just not simultaneously. Latest drivers and firmware all around. What gives? I just signed up so that I could reply and say thank you for taking the time to post all of this. I’m sure it’s helped many people but I wanted to let you know that this just saved us alot of difficult remote troubleshooting time having this information.
